Doing more in the dental industry has been a focus of Heartland Dental from the start, specifically doing more for supported doctors and helping them find what they’re looking for. Throughout 2017 and into 2018, Heartland Dental has continued to do more in regards to adding value for supported doctors and expanding our company reach.
More Opportunity and Camaraderie
Expanding our company footprint has been Heartland Dental’s goal for the past 20 years, and will continue to be throughout the next 20. That goal took another step forward, as we recently gained our first supported office in the state of Washington, bringing our footprint to 35 states.
Along with this growth, Heartland Dental prides itself on the open, collective environment in which we operate. Supported offices become part of a network of over 12,000 dental professionals who share ideas, encouragement and camaraderie, and who all work for the same cause. It’s exciting anytime we can expand that culture to new doctors and team members in new states.
More Support Both Near and Far
In addition to hitting the 35th state milestone, Heartland Dental also crossed the 800 supported office milestone in 2017.

“Reaching our 800th supported office is a testament to the hard work and leadership of all Heartland Dental supported doctors and team members,” said Rick Workman, DMD, Founder and Executive Chairman of Heartland Dental. “From the dedicated team members at the Effingham Support Office to the passionate dental teams at each of the supported offices across the country, their combined efforts continue to build Heartland Dental into what it is today and what we will be tomorrow.”
The addition of each newly supported dental office helps fulfill the organization’s vision, bringing Heartland Dental even closer to the forefront of dentistry. Becoming 800 offices strong is a milestone that is celebrated with gratitude and the promise of continual growth, as the organization looks to reach new milestones in the years to come. That will require another form of expansion though. In order to best support all of these offices and fulfill our mission of becoming the leader in dentistry, Heartland Dental is planning to also expand and advance our level of service by enhancing operations in Effingham, Illinois, as well as potentially open additional support offices. Markets throughout the region are being considered for the locations of the new facilities, which—like the Effingham Support Office—will house non-clinical support positions.

Now we have the great privilege of analyzing the potential of expanding the geography of our support-office functions, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
About a year and a half ago, Heartland Dental launched an important process to determine whether Effingham alone could support our growth. We know today that answer is no. And, so we partnered with global real estate experts Cushman & Wakefield to conduct a regional exploration of our most optimal prospects. No decisions have been made yet, but it will be based on feasibility and proximity to being able to extend superior service to supported doctors.

“Based on what we’ve learned, we believe most doctors don’t want to do mostly extractions and dentures forever. We don’t think most doctors want to do mostly Medicaid. We believe most would prefer to provide advanced, comprehensive care, work in nice facilities, and with full-fee/PPO patients,” added Dr. Workman. “We believe we can help all doctors, no what experience level, achieve this. We believe we have the right resources, knowledge and learning path.”
